Haha. November 2008. That was a frickin' long time ago. Nothing major has changed much in my life since then though, so no need for a recap. Still Alaska. Still subbing. Still running. Maybe I'll get the inspiration to write on a more regular basis this time. :)
Matt and I just got back from a trip to Anchorage. We did about half a day of shopping each day we were there as well as some running and a trip to Girdwood and Alyeska. It was a gorgeous day for a drive to the top of the Kenai Pen. and a ride to up the tram for sweeping views of the Turnagain Arm and the mountains surrounding it. It was just nice to get out of Fairbanks for awhile. Matt and I came back with some new clothes and Matt came home with the flu. Fabulous. I haven't gotten it bad yet, just some stomachache and weakness. Hopefully I don't get the explosive vomit and diarrhea that he had. :)
I'm in about week 13 of a marathon training plan. We've been running a ton. No major fatigue so far. It's been nice weather for running lately too. Week 1 of the plan had us running at -20F. Our week 4 long run of 9 mi was at -25F. It was just as cold in between all that. That was probably the worst part of the whole thing. Now it's in the 30s and 40s and it's much more pleasant running outside. Speaking of outside, I'm very proud of the fact that I didn't run a single time inside this winter. And it got pretty darn cold there for awhile too. Last year, I had about a dozen times that I either quit running altogether or ran inside on the 1 lap = .1 mi. track at UAF.
Today is a cleaning day. The warm weather has inspired me to do some spring cleaning. I've also set my first load of laundry outside to dry today. We'll see how successful it is at actually drying. It's 45F on the patio (in direct sunlight---it's not really that warm) right now. YAY!!
