Matt is running the marathon and I'm going to check out the 50K. He became more excited about the idea of running trails solo. Usually he's stuck at my pace. He signed up for a different event just to be sure I couldn't talk him into hanging with me at the last minute. :)

No specific training means I need no taper--again walking the line between genius idea and horrible one. The good thing is that the horrible part usually contains itself to a fraction of the total time, so if I come out with 30 minutes of thinking that was dumb, I'll call it a victory. Plus, I'm packing Oreos, so it's all good.
What are you doing this weekend?

If there are Oreos, I don't know how things could go wrong.
Maybe I'll see you out there, I'm doing the half :)
Yep...Oreos. That's all you need. You will do great.
Yay! I don't think you will regret any part of this decision. Crystal Springs is a great course for trail runners — the first four miles are a challenging but runnable climb, then there are seven miles of rolling singletrack through the redwoods (which will probably seem old hat to you, but it is a beautiful forest). The middle loop has great views but the second big climb on fireroad can be a bit of a slog. Then it's a return on fun trails. The singletrack descent in Huddart Park is possibly the only downhill run I've truly enjoyed; it's almost perfectly graded hero dirt (i.e. tacky dirt) and after 26 miles I'm usually more willing to ignore my falling fears and let myself go. :-) I think you'll love it. And I agree, you can't go wrong with Oreos. See you Saturday.
You're running a 50K this weekend? So cool, and what a way to kick in 2013. Good luck, and have fun. Sounds like an awesome course.
Happy running!
I found you on FB via pics from this race :). I hope you had a fantastic time, can't wait to hear about it!!!
